Accuphase E-6000

Reference High-Power Integrated Amplifier | Brisbane HiFi Audio Specialist

The Accuphase E-6000 is a flagship Class AB integrated amplifier designed to deliver the control, resolution, and authority normally associated with separate preamplifier and power-amplifier systems.

Combining Accuphase's fully balanced AAVA volume-control architecture, ANCC noise-cancellation technology, a six-parallel push-pull bipolar output stage, an oversized power supply, and an exceptionally high damping factor, the E-6000 is engineered to drive demanding loudspeaker loads with substantial reserves of current and power.

At Brisbane HiFi, we recommend the Accuphase E-6000 for reference two-channel systems where maximum loudspeaker control, dynamic scale, and sophisticated analogue circuitry are required from a single integrated chassis.

Key Features & Audio Engineering Highlights

Balanced AAVA Volume Control with ANCC

The E-6000 employs Accuphase's fully balanced AAVA (Accuphase Analog Vari-gain Amplifier) volume-control architecture.

Unlike conventional potentiometer-based volume controls, AAVA adjusts gain through an analogue current-based architecture while maintaining the signal in the analogue domain.

ANCC (Accuphase Noise and Distortion Cancelling Circuit) is incorporated into the I/V conversion stage to further reduce residual noise and distortion.

Six-Parallel Push-Pull Bipolar Output Stage

The power-amplifier section employs six high-output bipolar transistors in parallel per channel.

This substantial output stage delivers:

  • 260 W/ch into 8 Ω
  • 350 W/ch into 4 Ω

The parallel output architecture provides significant current capability for demanding loudspeaker loads.

Massive Low-Noise Power Supply

A large toroidal transformer is paired with custom Accuphase filter capacitors rated at:

2 × 47,000 µF / 100 V

This substantial power-supply reserve is designed to provide stable current delivery during demanding musical transients.

Ultra-High Damping Factor

The E-6000 specifies a damping factor of 1000, providing extremely low output impedance and strong electrical control of the loudspeaker load.

Accuphase also uses ultra-low-on-resistance MOS-FET switches in the speaker protection circuitry, with a specified on-resistance of just 0.84 mΩ.

Current-Feedback Amplifier Architecture

The power-amplifier section incorporates a current-feedback topology with cascode bootstrap circuitry.

This architecture is designed to maintain wide-band performance and stable high-frequency phase characteristics while delivering substantial output power.

Luxury Accuphase Construction

The E-6000 combines its substantial electronics with Accuphase's distinctive mechanical and visual design language, including:

  • Large analogue power meters
  • Satin-finished aluminium detailing
  • Gold-plated control trim
  • Large central volume control
  • Rigid 221 mm-high chassis

At 38.6 kg, the E-6000 is built as a substantial reference-grade integrated amplifier.

Expansion & System Integration

The E-6000 can be configured beyond its standard analogue inputs through Accuphase's rear-panel option slots.

DAC Expansion

The optional DAC-60 board provides integrated digital-input capability for systems that want digital conversion inside the amplifier.

Phono Expansion

The optional AD-60 phono board allows the E-6000 to accommodate a dedicated analogue phono input without requiring a separate external phono stage.

PRE OUT / MAIN IN

The separate preamplifier and power-amplifier connections allow the E-6000 to be incorporated into more complex systems, including:

  • External processor integration
  • External power amplification
  • Bi-amping
  • Subwoofer/system integration
